Biliran is a small island province located immediately north of Leyte in the Visayas region of the Philippines. It is one of the smallest provinces in the country and consists of eight municipalities. The population is 172,000 with a population density of 320 people/km2 and a 1.13% growth rate. The island is volcanic in nature and suffers from frequent landslides.
