Climate change,
biodiversity loss, and other impacts of forest loss are growing issues of
concern for the young in our cities and communities. For RISE’s efforts to be
sustainable, we need teachers and the younger generation to join us and
take action. They can:
Organize tree planting or demonstration site maintenance events;
Propose, help organize and participate in RISE outreach or training events;
Develop and implement forest restoration projects, such as school or community tree nurseries or arboretums; and
Assist in fund-raising activities.
If you are a youth or affiliated with a youth group and would like more information about getting involved with RISE, please contact us.
The private sector is taking an increasingly active role in protecting lives and livelihoods of communities from the consequences of widespread forest cover loss, including downstream flooding and landslides. RISE offers itself as a partner for companies who want to:
Donate funds for the purchase of seedlings used in tree planting events;
Work with RISE to implement company reforestation projects, including those developed through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives or as required under Environmental Compliance Certificates;
Support trainings or outreach programs for company staff or local community members wanting to engage in conservation and restoration; and
Provide land or upfront financing support for the development of large-scale forest rehabilitation projects aimed at generating credits for the carbon market or payment for ecosystem services (PES) arrangements.
If you represent a private sector interest and would like more information about partnering with RISE, please contact us.
Local Government Units (LGUs) are some of the primary beneficiaries of RISE’s efforts to restore watersheds and rehabilitate degraded lands. LGU officials and employees can:
Identify and provide land for rehabilitation in Land Use Management Plans;
Arrange for trainings for field staff in appropriate land management approaches;
Develop a municipal nursery to provide a supply of quality native seedlings and other planting materials for RISE or other LGU reforestation projects;
Support the protection of mother trees by authoring or lobbying for appropriate ordinances; and
Allocate funds for landscape rehabilitation-related activities.
If you represent a LGU and would like more information about getting involved in RISE activities, please contact us.
Demand for forest landscape restoration has grown to such an extent that additional researchers and technical service providers are needed. As such, we invite members of the academic and research community to:
Conduct and publish research on native species forest restoration and related topics;
Incorporate native species reforestation into the curriculum and bring students to visit RISE-affiliated demonstration sites for field trips;
Develop a native species nursery and forest restoration demonstration site on campus; and
Promote forest restoration and related studies as research opportunities for students.
If you are affiliated with an academic or research institution and would like more information about getting involved with RISE, please contact us.
